Lloyd Augustin Abel, of New York, passed away on Jan. 14, 2026. He was 91 years old.

He is survived by his son, Lloyd Abel, Jr.; brothers, O’Neal A. Abel; sister-in-law, Loma Lightburn-Abel; nieces, Joan Alex Harrison/Jones, Sharon Payne, Almeade Jarvis, Audrey Abel, Alya Abel-Heyliger, Yvette Bennerson, Lena Abel, Yvonne Abel, Helen Abel, Donna Jones, Vivian Jones Maclemore, Jan Able Akgur,ย Michelle Reedย Davis; nephews, Craig Wells, Bojo Wells, Brian Wells, Roger Wells, Derwin Wells, John Franklin, Arol Abel, Sr., Aron Abel, James Abel, Jr., Shelton Shulterbrandt, Stewart Shulterbrandt, James Abel, Jr., Bernard Abel, Oscar, Roland, James, Jonathan Reed. Funeral arrangements will be held on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026, at Friedensberg Moravian Church. Viewing begins at 9 am, with service at 10 am. Interment will be held at Frederiksted Cemetery.
