Man Shot in Face Found in Simmonds Alley

A man suffering from a gunshot wound to the face was found Sunday night in Simmonds Alley on St. Thomas, the Virgin Islands Police Department reported.

Police said patrol officers and detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau were dispatched to the area at about 10:08 p.m. Sunday after reports of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim with a single gunshot wound to the face.

Emergency medical services transported the victim to Schneider Regional Medical Center, where he was evaluated and treated for his injuries, police said.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, police said.
