Woman Accused of Assaulting Man With Frozen Water Bottle on St. Croix

A 36-year-old woman is facing domestic violence charges after allegedly striking a man with a half-frozen water bottle and damaging his vehicle during an argument at Altoona Lagoon Beach Friday, June 6, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The male complainant reported the incident to the Ancilmo Marshall Command Police Station at approximately 6:49 p.m. He told officers that while he was driving, Shakeria Tramel struck him in the head with the frozen bottle and damaged the dashboard of his vehicle, according to the police report.

Tramel was later brought to the station for questioning. After being read her Miranda rights, she initially refused to speak with officers but eventually gave a statement denying the assault, the police report stated.

She was arrested and charged with destruction of property/domestic violence and simple assault/domestic violence. Bail was set in accordance with domestic violence protocols. Tramel is currently being held at the John A. Bell Correctional Facility pending her advice of rights hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. on Monday in Kingshill Superior Court, police said.
