Glestil John Jr. Dies

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Glestil John Jr., born December 16, 1972, who passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Glestil was a loving son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life touched many.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glestil John Sr., and his grandparents, Mary Walcott and Jorge Rodriguez. Glestil is survived by his mother, Geneva Rodriguez, and his daughter, Akima Cepeda. He leaves behind his beloved grandson, Carmelo Serrano, and a host of family and friends who have cherished him.

He is also survived by his siblings: brothers George John and Ralph Benjamin; sisters Akiema John and Ivory Rodriguez. His loving aunts include Rita Mae Martin, Mae Agnes Foster, and Titi Francisca Farralee, with uncles Jaime Rodriguez, Alfred John, and Jose Felix. He will be remembered fondly by his nieces Johvanna, Jahmara, Jahnilies, Jahnai, Jayleen John, Yaneris Cruz, Jandiera John, Levisha John, Lerida Issaac, Kiara Benjamin, and nephews George Jr. (deceased), Jah-heed, Jaheem, JahMarley John, JahMario Cepeda, Jaheem Maxwell, Shaquan George, Shamoy John, D’shawn Innocent, Philbert Isaac, and Kimani Benjamin.

His cousins, Chula, Snowy, Rodger Hector, Fernando Martin, Michael Velez, Roberto Velez Jr., Nicole Velez-Johnson, Analisa Velez, Antonio Velez, Theresa & Asha Martin, Yvette Velez-Lapree, and Michelle Velez-Gordon will also carry on his memory. Glestil was also loved by his in-laws Lorren Velasquez, Joyce Brown, and numerous special friends who were like family to him.

A funeral service will be held at Divine Funeral Services Chapel on March 21, 2025. Viewing at 10:00 AM. Service at 11:00 AM. Interment at Kingshill Cemetery. We invite family and friends to join us as we celebrate Glestil’s life and honor his memory.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his legacy live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
