St. Thomas Man Faces Charges for Theft and Assault

A man, who was a victim of a hit-and-run auto accident, was allegedly assaulted and robbed in the area of Hull Bay on St. Thomas in August, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The victim presented himself at the Mariel Newton Command on Tuesday, August 28, 2024, reporting that he was assaulted and his cellular device (valued at $1,000.00) was taken by the assailant, according to the police report.

The victim explained that he used his cellular device to snap a photo of Clyde Rawlins’ license plate number following a hit-and-run auto collision, which occurred weeks prior in
the area of Hull Bay. The victim declared that Rawlins denied the allegation, however,
Rawlins became enraged and struck him repeatedly about the head and body, causing
injuries. Rawlins then took the victim’s mobile device and refused to return it, the police report stated.

Rawlins, 36, was arrested on Sept. 13 for grand larceny, robbery first, simple assault, and disturbance of the peace. His bail was set at $20,000, the report stated.
