Third Accomplice in Castle Coakley Robbery in Custody

An arrest warrant was signed for Benjamin Cabret, Aug. 23, and on Thursday, 31-year-old, Cabret turned himself in to the Superior Court of the V.I, according to the V.I. Police Department.

On Feb. 22 the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of a robbery that occurred in the Castle Coakley area. Upon the arrival of the responding officers, they met with the victim who was badly beaten. A member of the Criminal Investigation Bureau assigned to investigate this matter made contact with the victim who disclosed that he was present at an establishment socializing when he met Cabret and several other co-conspirators, who robbed and assaulted him at gunpoint, according to the report.

Police made contact with Cabret, and he was detained and transported to the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station where he was advised of his Miranda Rights. He declined to give a statement and was placed under arrest, booked, and was unable to post bail in the amount set at $75,000, stated the police report.

Cabret faces charges of robbery in the first degree, robbery first-principals, assault in the first degree, assault in the third degree, unauthorized possession of a firearm, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and conspiracy, the report stated.

Cabret was remanded to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing.
