
On behalf of the District Court of the Virgin Islands, Chief Judge Robert A. Molloy announces that Attorney G. Alan Teague has been selected to serve as the magistrate judge in the Division of St. Thomas/St. John, effective Aug. 26.
Judge Teague obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing at Louisiana Tech University in 1990 and his Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 1997. Shortly after graduating from law school, Teague relocated to St. Croix to clerk for the Honorable Patricia D. Steele, judge of the Superior Court. Since his judicial clerkship, Teague has had 24 years of legal practice, more than 16 of which have been in the Virgin Islands.
He has previously served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Virgin Islands Bar Association as well as volunteered for the local high school moot court competition as an attorney coach. In addition to his time in the territory, Teague has also practiced stateside with a top-rated insurance defense firm, having been named a director (partner) prior to his returning to St. Thomas in 2018 to start the law firm of Meade & Teague LLC.
Teague comes to the court with extensive knowledge as a civil litigator who also has experience in the practice of criminal law, having been appointed on numerous occasions to defend indigent citizens in the territory. He has tried both jury and bench trials to verdict as well as presented oral arguments before the Virgin Islands Supreme Court.
Judge Teague replaces the Honorable Ruth Miller as the magistrate judge in the Division of St. Thomas/St. John elected to retire from service effective July 29.
The District Court of the Virgin Islands extends its sincere thanks to Judge Miller for her 14 years of dedicated service as the magistrate judge in the Division of St. Thomas/St. John.
