Jesse David Martinez Dies at 39

Jesse David Martinez

Jesse David Martinez, age 39, died on Nov. 29, 2023, in Miami, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gina Marie Bell; grandmother, Helen Chennery Martinez-Springer; grandfather, Domingo Martinez; and uncle, Rueben Martinez.

He is survived by his father, Judah Maccabaeus; stepmother, Lorna Thomas-Maccabaeus; grandmother, Roselyn Canton-Lang; grandfather, John A. Bell Sr.; sister, Kasheema Miller; brothers: Kuanza Martinez, Jahnoah Bell and Daniel Maccabaeus; nieces: Alaunis Bell and Roselyn Ross; nephews: Jahnoah Bell Jr. and Noah Miller; and aunts: Faye Martinez, Sandra Martinez, Michelle Springer and Jurene “Tricia” Bell.

He is also survived by his uncles: Domingo Martinez Jr., Michael Springer, John A. Bell, Jason Bell, Clinton Lang Jr., Wayne “Cirgie” Bell and John M. Bell; sister- in-law, Christine James-Bell; and cousins: William Harvey III, Maurice Harvey, Chenae Harvey, Jahmoy Williams, Inieka Martinez, Starta Martinez, Malik Martinez, Kyana Martinez, Shaquille Springer, Hakeem Springer, Nicholas Springer, Michael Springer Jr., Shamoy Martinez, Micah Springer, Brandon Springer, Brooklyn Springer, Akilah Galloway, Denae Bell, Brandon Bell and Kahlil Galloway.

Other survivors include special family friends: Anita and Okemo Felix Sr., Aisha Davila, Terrance T. Joseph, Senator Diane Capehart, Brenda Charles, Angelica Schuster, Dina Cruz, Janella Harvey, Sheniqua and Adam Mason, Vernon Matthews, Tony Anthony, the Bell family, the Canton family, the Chennery family, the Christian family, Wala and UCA M20 Kitchen/Afrika House, Catholic Charities and Customers from the Corner; as well as many other relatives too numerous to mention.

The viewing will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service beginning at 10 a.m., Friday, March 22, at Ebenezer Methodist Church, 95 Estate Richmond. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
