“We have spent the past months aligning with the Democratic National Committee to ensure compliance with its rules and regulations, and we are ready for a spirited caucus,” Hodge said in a press release on Thursday.

The Democratic Caucus will host elections on St. Croix, St. Thomas, and St. John, with one precinct per island, according to the release. Early voting will occur on June 6-7, and Caucus Day is Saturday, June 8, when Democrats will select presidential convention delegates and electors, it said.

The V.I. Delegate Selection Plan explains how the Democratic Party will select its delegates for the 2024 Democratic National Convention, which will be held in Chicago, Illinois, Aug. 19-22 to nominate Joe Biden, president, and Kamala Harris, vice president, for re-election as president and vice president of the United States.

The Virgin Islands Democratic Party recently received official notice from DNC Secretary Jason Rae certifying the automatic party leaders and elected officials for the 2024 National Convention, the release stated. They are:

  • Angel Bolques, National Committeeman (DNC member)
  • Carol Burke, Vice Chair (DNC member)
  • Donna Christensen, National Committeewoman (DNC member)
  • Stedmann Hodge, Chair (DNC member)
  • Albert Bryan Jr., Governor
  • Stacey Plaskett, U.S. Representative

Delegates and alternate candidates may obtain a “Statement of Candidacy” and pledge of support forms along with filing instructions from Vice Chair Carol Burke, caucus coordinator.

Statements of Candidacies will be available in person on April 1 via email to cb_manjack@yahoo.com or by telephone at 340-513-7159. The deadline to file the candidacy petition and pledge of support forms with the caucus coordinator is Monday, April 22. Any registered Democrat may participate in the election process.
