Heated Argument Leads to Stabbing

An argument between two women on St. Thomas led to one being stabbed, the V.I. Police Department reported Monday.

On Saturday, the 911 Emergency Call Center received notification of a fight between two females at a residence at #24 Kronprindsens Gade in the downtown area. Upon arrival, the VIPD officers made contact with a woman bleeding profusely from stab wounds about her upper body, according to the police report.

Emergency Medical Technicians arrived on scene and transported the injured woman to the
Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment, the police report stated.

An investigation revealed that the victim, identified as Adila Pineda, 54, was involved in a heated argument with the suspect, Carmen Alegria Herrera, 43, when the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times and fled the area, the report stated.

Officers were able to view surveillance footage along with information from a witness and the victim, which identified Herrera as the suspect. Herrera was located at the La Clave Bar & Restaurant across the street from the residence, where she was detained, placed under arrest, and charged with assault first-degree, it said.

Herrera was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections as she was unable to post bail of
$75,000, police said.
