James Wesselhoft Jr. Dies

James Wesselhoft Jr.

James Wesselhoft Jr., better known as “Punkie,” died on Dec. 8.

He is survived by his daughters: Shawna Wesselhoft-Roach and Sharika Wesselhoft; grandchildren: Sharaine Wesselhoft, Tyrek Roach and Ta’niya Roach; great-grandchildren: Kierra Henry and K’mya Thomas; brothers: Richard “Butchie” Wesselhoft, Jeffery “Chipo” Wesselhoft and Keith Wesselhoft; sisters: ‘Nata’ D. Wesselhoft-Rieriea, Lavern Wesselhoft and Anita Aubain; and aunts: Violet Vanterpool and Yolanda Pehna.

He is also survived by nieces: Anna Wesselhoft, Tejah Wesselhoft, Devia Wesselhoft, Delicia Wesselhoft, Ywardia Wesselhoft and Georgina Aubain; nephews: Devon Wesselhoft, Glenn Wesselhoft Jr., Dewayne Wesselhoft, J’Ni Wesselhoft and Marley Aubain;  and great-nieces: Shakira Ward, Brittany Ward, Kiana Pemberton, Lashanda Ward, Lula Ward, Lania Wesselhoft, Kamia Wesselhoft and Timmyiah Wesselhoft.

Other survivors include great-nephews: Franciso Hassel, Shawn Wesselhoft, Wallen Ward, Luis Ward, J’Vonte Ward, Joanie Ward Jimille Wesselhoft, Lavon Wesselhoft, and Jakeel Wesselhoft; son-in-law: Steadroy “Sam” Roach and Dwayne “Badge” Davis; sister-in-law, Lauralee Wesselhoft; brother-in-law: Gene “Freddy” Aubain; sista: Evelyn “Evo” Watts; special friends: Rose Rodriquez, Doris Hansen, Florence Mulraine, Thirza Abraham, Debra Brown, The Fourwinds, Chicken Fry, Mechanic and Old Tutu Circle; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

The first viewing will be on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Turnbull’s Funeral Home.

The second viewing will be held from 9-10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 4, at St. Andrew’s Church. Interment will be at Western Cemetery No. 3.
