Mahogany forest

The oldest tree plantation in the Virgin Islands is located at Davis Bay on St. Croix. These Honduras mahoganies were planted in 1908 by the Danish government. Sadly, the mahogany plantation was destroyed when the Carambola Hotel was built in the late 1980s at Davis Bay Beach. (USDA Forest Service photo)
