One Dead and One Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on St. Croix

A two-vehicle collision on St. Croix has left one dead and one injured, the V.I. Police Department reported Thursday.

On Tuesday, at about 7:01 p.m., officers were dispatched by the 911 Emergency Call Center to a two-vehicle collision on Queen Mary Highway in the vicinity of the Whim Museum, according to the press release.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a black Acura was heading eastbound at a high rate of speed, passing vehicles along the roadway when it collided with a Ford Escape heading westbound, the police report stated.

The driver, later identified as 41-year-old Devin Fleming, operating the Acura succumbed to his injuries and the driver of the Ford Escape suffered nonlife-threatening injuries, the report stated.

This case remains open and under investigation by the Virgin Islands Police Department Traffic Investigation Bureau, St. Croix District.
