St. Thomas Man Dashes Police

A St. Thomas man involved in an assault case evaded the police after they attempted to make contact with him at a local car wash, the V.I. Police Department reported Monday.

On the evening of Aug. 11, around 10:00 p.m., officers were on routine patrol when they observed a suspect from an assault case near Splash and Dash Carwash. The suspect was identified as Shahime T. Ludvig Jr., according to the police report.

Upon approaching Ludvig, officers attempted to initiate contact; however, the suspect reportedly seized a black firearm from a vehicle and fled the scene. He managed to evade pursuit, avoiding officers who were in the process of carrying out their law enforcement duties, the press release stated.

On Aug. 13 at about 7:30 p.m., Ludvig Jr., 25, was arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and fleeing from an officer discharging his/her official duty. His bail was set at $50,000, the report stated.

This case is presently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
