Marijuana Smoker Lands a Firearm Charge

A man was observed by police smoking marijuana during Carnival J’ouvert on St. Thomas on Thursday, which led to further investigation, said VIPD.  

Found in possession of an unlicensed firearm after officers made contact with the suspect identified as Shemar Coward, 22, he was taken into custody. Once in custody, he was charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of ammunition, said police. 

According to press release, Coward was remanded to corrections pending his advise of rights hearing, and his bail was set at $50,000.
