Man Transports Illegal Immigrant

A Tortola man plead guilty to bringing an alien to the United States for private financial gain, U.S. Attorney Delia L. Smith announced Friday.

According to police, on Sept. 7, 2019, a vessel was intercepted approaching Coral Bay, St. John, with no navigational lights. Samuel Davies, captain of the vessel, and a Dominican Republic man were unable to produce legal documentation that allowed their presence into the United States.

The police department reported that Davies told agents he met a man in Tortola known as “San Diego” who asked to take the Dominican man to  Jost Van Dyke, BVI, but they accidentally ended up in Coral Bay.

According to press release, the Dominican man was later deported back to the Dominican Republic, and Davies is awaiting a scheduled hearing to be sentenced by a federal judge.
