Woman’s Ex-Boyfriend on St. Croix Arrested for Burglary

A St. Croix woman’s ex-boyfriend was arrested and charged with burglary DV Thursday, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau Domestic Violence Unit was dispatched to Harbor View Apartments for a reported burglary on Monday, the report stated.

When officers arrived at the scene, they made contact with the victim, who stated that her ex-boyfriend, Maurice Liburd, came to her residence, gained entry without permission, and assaulted her. The victim was in her bedroom when Liburd entered and wrestled with her to get her phone. He grabbed her by her hair and pulled her into the hallway, pulling out some of her hair in the process. Liburd also destroyed and threw items at the victim before leaving the residence. The victim has a restraining order against Liburd, according to the police report.

Liburd, 46, was arrested without incident on Thursday. He was charged with burglary DV and his bail was set at $75,000. Unable to post bond, he was remanded to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing.
