125th COVID-Related Death Confirmed by Health Department

The Virgin Islands Health Department confirmed the territory’s 125th death related to COVID-19 on Tuesday, an 84-year-old St. Thomas man.

The department continues to work to slow the spread of COVID-19 and encourages the public to become fully vaccinated and boosted, it said in a news release announcing the latest death.

Residents are also urged to remember to follow all precautionary measures by practicing social distancing around persons with whom they do not reside, wearing a mask in crowded public areas, washing their hands often with soap and warm water, and cleaning frequently used areas thoroughly.

Vaccines for COVID and the flu for residents ages five and older are available by calling the Health Department at 340-244-0016 (St. Croix), 340-777-8803, ext. 2600 (St. Thomas), and on St. John at 340-776-6400.

The bivalent booster is available for anyone over the age of five who has had the previous shots.
