Man Arrested for Brandishing a Firearm Outside a St. Croix Bar

A man was arrested Thursday for brandishing a gun outside a bar on St. Croix, the V.I. Police Department reported Friday.

Detectives launched an investigation on July 2, 2021, when the 911 Emergency Call Center was notified of shots fired in the Peter’s Rest area. During the investigation, several spent casings were recovered, and information obtained revealed that David Armstrong was in possession of a firearm, the report stated.

Armstrong was arrested at his residence Thursday for brandishing a gun, possessing ammunition, and carrying a firearm openly or concealed. He was Mirandized and declined to give a statement, according to the police report.

Armstrong’s bail was set at $100,000. Unable to post bail, Armstrong was remanded to the Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing scheduled for Friday, police said.
