Alleged STX Thief Caught on Security Cam

Police arrested a man on St. Croix accused of theft, using surveillance footage reportedly showing him going in the act. According to a release from the V.I. Police Department, after the thefts were reported, on Feb. 1 police detectives retrieved footage from the Home Depot and Kmart in Sunny Isles. Police say the footage showed Joseph Daniel Henschel entered a parked vehicle located in a residential area and stole several items including a Banco Popular debit card, which he used to purchase items totaling $1,472.26, at The Home Depot and Kmart stores without authorization.

On March 17, 2022, 10:59 a.m.,44-year-old Joseph Henschel was placed under arrest and charged with grand larceny, forgery, obtaining money by false pretense, and trespass.

Unable to post the $20,000, Henschel was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending, Advice of Rights Hearing scheduled for Friday, March 18 at Superior Court.
