Gunshot Victim in Stable Condition After Assault

A gunshot victim being treated at Schneider Regional Medical Center was still in stable condition Saturday after being injured the night before on First Avenue.

V.I. Police officers made contact with the victim in the hospital after responding to a call of shots fired in the area of Paul M. Pearson Housing Community on St. Thomas around 11:52 p.m. Friday. The victim said he was walking on First Avenue in Sugar Estate when he heard a rapid discharge of fire.

The victim said he began to run, fell to the ground and realized he was shot, according to a VIPD news release.

The Police Department is asking anyone with information about this incident or any other to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at (340) 774-2211 or Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-TIPS, or submit online at p3tips.com.
