Crime Stoppers Crimes of the Week: Contant Shootout and Homicide, Bordeaux Shooting and Peters Rest Murder

Up to $10,000 reward offered for information leading to apprehension of at-large suspect. 

On Wednesday January 19, 2022, 911 received a report of several shots being fired at a bar in Contant, St. Thomas, near the old airport turnoff. According to police, responding officers arrived in the area and reportedly discovered several victims who appeared to have suffered gunshot wounds. Police say five individuals were victims of gunshots, four of the victims were taken to Schneider Regional Medical Center for medical attention. The fifth victim was discovered in a residential area in the upper Contant vicinity. EMTs arrived on the scene where the fifth victim was discovered and concluded that he did not have any vital signs.

The deceased victim was identified as 41-year-old Henry Richards Jr. Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased and an unidentified individual drove up to the bar, and multiple gunshots were discharged from the vehicle. Police believe the second person is still at large and may have sustained injuries.

On Monday, January 17, around 5:46 p.m. the Criminal Investigation Bureau
responded to shots fired and man down around Bordeaux Fire Station. The gunshot victim was taken to Schneider Regional Medical Center in a private vehicle. Police say that on arrival at the hospital, officers saw a black male who appeared to have been shot in the left knee by an unknown person. The victim reportedly said he was riding his dirt bike when he heard shots fired. He said he fell into the bush and then caught a ride to the hospital. The victim also stated he did not see who shot him and declined to give any further information.

On July 4, 2021, the decomposed body of an adult male was found in an apartment in Estate Peter’s Rest, St. Croix. The autopsy disclosed the victim had been shot multiple times, which caused his death. The victim has been identified as Michael Scott, age 48 of Estate Peter’s Rest. Police are investigating the case as a homicide.
