Nine Injured in Two Vehicle Collision on STT

Nine people were treated at Schneider Regional Medical Center after they were injured in an auto collision Monday evening in the vicinity of Lockhart Gardens on St. Thomas.

According to the V.I. Police Department, at 5:59 p.m Monday the 911 emergency call center dispatched officers to Rumer Drive, in the vicinity of the Lockhart Gardens Shopping Center, to investigate an auto accident.

At the scene, officers found a red Ford safari and a white Toyota Camry in a collision. Preliminary investigation revealed that the Camry, with three occupants, was traveling north and lost control, veering into oncoming traffic traveling south, colliding into the safari, which carried six.

The three occupants of the Camry and the six riders of the safari were injured in the collision, requiring medical attention at Schneider. Police said Monday night that all nine were listed in stable condition.

The VIPD Traffic Investigation Bureau is investigating the incident, police sad.
