Two New COVID-19 Fatalities Bring Territory’s Pandemic Death Toll to 71

Two more COVID-19 deaths – an 89-year-old man from St. Croix and a 44-year-old St. Thomas woman – announced Monday by the V.I. Department of Health, have raised the territory’s death toll from the disease to 71.

According to the Department of Health, 44 of the deaths took place on St. Thomas, 24 on St. Croix, and three on St. John.

According to the department’s news release, getting the COVID-19 vaccine can prevent severe illness and death. Those who wish to get the vaccination can schedule an appointment by calling 340-777-8227 or going online to the Department of Health website.

Walk-ins also are accepted at the territory’s Community Vaccination Centers.

St. Croix’s Community Vaccination Center is at the Nissan Center in La Grande Princesse, adjacent to the Honda Dealership and The Paint Shop, on the same side of the street as Food Town.

On St. Thomas, the Community Vaccination Center is at the Community Health Clinic on the second floor at the Schneider Regional Medical Center.

The department also urges residents to continue following the safety protocols that have been urged since the beginning of the pandemic: practice social distancing, wear a mask when in the company of others outside of those in your household, clean frequently used areas thoroughly, and wash your hands often with soap and warm water.

Virgin Islanders can report a suspected case of COVID-19 by calling 340-712-6299 or 340-776-1519. Further information is available online at the department’s website.

Thank you for tuning in - the live feed from the VI Legislature should resume momentarily.

When will we receive our tax refunds, and stimulus checks many have not received? Stop the distraction nonsense

Planning his re-election he thinks…

Is he still speaking?

he's back!

I hope it comes back!
