On Sept. 17, at approximately 12:44 p.m., the Virgin Islands Fire Service (VIFS) was dispatched to a vehicle fire at the Contant North Condominiums. Two units from Hotel Company responded. Upon arrival, crews found several vehicles on fire and observed flames spreading to nearby bushes. Fire personnel commenced firefighting operations and deployed two attack lines. Within 30 minutes, the blaze was brought under control.
Salvage and overhaul operations were conducted, and the Arson Investigation and Prevention Unit was called to the scene. This fire remains under investigation by VIFS and VIPD.
At approximately 12:54 p.m., while traveling to assist crews from Hotel Company, units from Echo Company came upon a small fire by the Clear View Apartments located adjacent to the Old Mill. Firefighters responded and extinguished the fire quickly. No damage to vehicles or property was reported. The Arson Investigation and Prevention Unit was notified.
VIFS is asking anyone with information about these fires to please call 774-7610 and ask for the Prevention Unit. If you see any suspicious activity, please report. VIFS needs the public’s help to keep the community safe.
