Woman Reports Being Kidnapped on St. Croix

A woman was reportedly kidnapped Thursday, escaping her abductors while they attempted to coerce her significant other to pay ransom for her release, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Accordng to police, at 2:30 a.m. the 911 emergency call center dispatched officers to the Christiansted residence of the woman, whose name was not released by police in accordance wth department policy.

The victim reported that around 11 p.m. she was walking on Strand Street, Christiansted, when she noticed two Black males walking behind her. When she got to the corner of Strand and King Cross Streets, she saw that one one of the males appeared to have be a firearm in his hand. The victim was forced into a vehicle and taken to a gas station in Grove Place, where the suspects called her significant other to demand a ransom. The victim was able to escape a short time after, and received assistance.
