Deron Dixon, a 35-year-old resident of Estate Little Princess who was shot early on Thursday, died of his injuries on Saturday at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital, making him the second homicide victim on St. Croix to have been shot on Thursday and die in the days following, the V.I. Police Department reported.
Dixon’s death was the 11th homicide in the territory since the beginning of the year, the 14th in the territory, according to the Source homicide list.*
According to police, Dixon reported to police that as he left his residence headed to work at approximately 5 a.m. on April 1 he heard gunfire and realized he had been injured. He said he observed a white vehicle leaving the area but did not know who shot him.
Dixon sustained multiple gunshot wounds about his body and was transported to Juan Luis for treatment. He died on Saturday at around 11 p.m.
On the same day Dixon was shot, police reported another St. Croix shooting incident. On April 1, police discovered 22-year-old Wayne A. Jerome in a field near Lew Muckle Elementary School in Estate Sion Farm. Jerome was taken to the hospital where he died on April 2.
