The V.I. Police Department at 1:52 p.m., Thursday, arrested Kenyatta Horsford, age 44, of Estate Cane, and Linda Williams, age 33, of Mount Pleasant Apartments, and charged them with child abuse.
Police investigation suggested that Horsford assaulted the minor victim. Williams attempted to mislead the Virgin Islands Department of Human Services employees and police by producing another minor child during the investigation. When Williams eventually produced the minor victim who had been assaulted, the child was found to be severely injured. The minor victim was transported to the Gov. Juan Francisco Luis Hospital via police for treatment, and the child was listed in critical condition.
Horsford was charged with first-degree assault and aggravated child abuse and neglect. Williams was charged with child abuse and neglect and other relevant charges, police said.
Bail for Horsford was set at $75,000 and bail for Williams was set at $60,000. Unable to post bail, they were turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending their advice of rights hearings.
