The V.I. Police Department on Friday arrested 44-year-old Fernando Santiago of no fixed address, charging him in a January incident in which a woman was threatened with a weapon in downtown Christiansted.
According to police, the arrest took place at about 9:35 a.m. Feb. 5. Santiago is charged with contempt of court/domestic violence, disturbance of the peace by threats, and possession of a dangerous weapon.
The police said Santiago is accused of threatening a female victim with a weapon in downtown Christiansted on Jan. 25, violating a no-contact court order. He was spotted in the Kingshill area by detectives and apprehended. Santiago was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections without bail, in accordance with Virgin Islands domestic violence statutes, pending his advice of rights hearing.
