Trevon Richards, 31, of St. Thomas, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Ruth Miller Wednesday and entered a guilty plea to one count charging him with possession with intent to distribute less than 50 kilograms of marijuana, U.S. Attorney Gretchen C.F. Shappert announced in a news release

Shappert said Pursuant to the plea agreement, Richards arrived at the Cyril E. King Airport in St. Thomas on Nov. 4, 2020. After disembarking, Richards was stopped on the tarmac when a K-9 alerted to his backpack. Customs and Border Patrol officers searched Robinson’s bag finding six vacuum sealed plastic bags containing approximately 2.9 kilograms of marijuana.

A sentencing hearing will be scheduled at a later date.
