Police Charge STX Man with Domestic Assault and Burglary

At about 10:45 a.m. Saturday the V.I. Police Department police arrested 24-year-old Janeil Herbert of Sion Farm, charging him with first-degree burglary/domestic violence and simple assault/domestic violence.

The victim, whose name was not released by police, told officers that Herbert entered her apartment without permission and that Herbert assaulted the victim and took her mobile phone before leaving the apartment.

Herbert was located and taken into custody a short time later. He was not offered bail, as per the territory’s domestic violence statutes, and was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing.
