The V.I. Department of Public Works has spearheaded several key initiatives with the goal of improving the quality of life for all Virgin Islanders. One of these projects is a landscaping pilot program that was officially mobilized in December. The contractor for this project is Fabiens Trucking LLC.

The current project limits span between V.I. Territorial Management Agency and Nisky Center on St. Thomas. The intent is to expand to other areas on St. Thomas and across the entire territory.

“This landscaping pilot program is one aspect of the department’s beautification efforts,” said Nelson Petty Jr., DPW commissioner. “Change does not happen overnight, but through collaborative efforts, change is inevitable.” Although beautification efforts are underway, the department is asking for the community’s support in keeping the territory clean.

Governor Albert Bryan Jr. also has several plans in the works and currently underway that are aligned with the department’s beautification efforts: added cleaning crews for town areas on St. Thomas and St. Croix, Adopt-A-Roadside legislation, and working with the administrator’s office to execute neighborhood clean-ups.
