Woman Reports Being Robbed in Restaurant

A woman who had stopped for lunch at a fast food restaurant Monday near the Nisky Center on St. Thomas told police that she had been robbed, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at 11:54 a.m. Oct. 26, the 911 emergency call center dispatched officers to the KFC restaurant in the vicinity of Nisky Center in reference to a robbery.

The female victim reported that while she was in the restaurant, a Black male who was unknown to her approached her from behind, stuck his hand in her handbag and took money out of it. The suspect then fled the restaurant in an unknown direction. Witnesses told police the man may be a homeless person who frequents the Subbase area.

Police urged anyone who saw something or knows any information about the crime to contact the VIPD by calling 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS).
