Elrose Rudolph Richards Dies at 79

Elrose Rudolph Richards

Elrose Rudolph Richards, also known as “Mickey,” died on Aug. 18. He was 79 years old.

He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Inez Richards; grandmother, Rosie Michael; sisters: Jane-Ann Anthony and Ionie Richards; brothers: Carlton, Everard and Patrick Richards Sr.; brother-in-law, Nathaniel Anthony, sister-in-law, Bernadette Richards; and nephews: Coy Weekes, Patrick Jr and Rodney (Roddy) Richards.

He is survived by his wife, Antoinette Lenhardt-Richards; daughters: Inez and Yvonne Richards; stepdaughter, Afrilasia Joseph-Phipps (Clayton); sons: Cornell, Rudy, Rohan and William Richards; stepsons: Amolay (Vanessa) and Roy Christopher Jr.; grandchildren: Keisha Adams, Amaziah, Amelia, Arisa, K’miyah, Malik and Roy (III) Christopher, Lisa and Karima Davis, Alayah Phipps, Blossom, Desirah, Destiny, Dornel, Divine, Faith, Jeff, Keithroy, Liam, Sheila, Tony, Rodney, Ronel, Ronique and Royal Richards; and great-grandchildren, Faith, Keyshorn, and Hoseia Adams, Brittany George, Makayla Gomes, Jahia, Kiara and Lorenzo Gordon, Kennece and Kenniel Joseph, Tahela, T’ander and Trevonte Nicolas,  Jarimah Rayn, Shequella Richards, Aldrick Webber and Jamaul Williams.

He is also survived by sisters: Ethelyn Haggerty-Horsford, Nolarine Joseph, Cynthia Richards and Edris Weekes; brothers: Elderfield and Rolston (Kenmore) Richards; sisters-in law: Una Lenhardt and Myra Richards; brothers-in-law: Cecil and Titus Lenhardt; nieces: Merle and Diane Allick, Debby Henry, Claudette Hill, Lovine Johnson, Lyana Joseph, Rebecca Milligan, Jamelah Morton, Blanche, Desiree, Ethlyn, Reanne, Sharon, Sheralyn, Stacy, Tyre and Timona Richards, Kitichia Weekes, Ruthlyn Wiggins and Santosha Joseph Willis; and nephews: Junior and Tony Anthony, Austin Haggerty, Jahbei Hamilton, Kano, Miles (Ogden), and Romeo Henry, Mitchell Hill, Robert Jr. and Richard Horsford, Ian Joseph, Halik Milligan, Anson, Johntue, Justin, Leonardo, Pernell, Rolston Jr., and Tony Richards and Anthony Weekes.

Other survivors include special family and friends: Cecil Benjamin, Phyllis Blackman, Joseph Bradford, Mr. and Mrs. Stafford Brown, Sylvia Brown, Yolanda Carr, Delores Crichlow, Mr. and Mrs. Claudel Roger Charles, MacLean Emmanuel aka “King Short Shirt,” Oneca Glasgow, Yvonne Gittens, Janice Hansen, Louise James, Pamela Joseph, Barbara McIntosh, Carmen Moorehead Mills, Terrell Parris, Heskett Prentice, Eileen Pryce, Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Ramirez, Agnes Richards, Edwin Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Stafford Thomas, Senator Kurt Vialet, Frederick “Tucky” Warden, Pastor Gerald Williams and family, Lindell Williams, the Joseph family, Lenhardt family, Department of Public Works family, Express Band and Junior Calypso Inc; as well as a host of other loved ones too numerous to mention.

A graveside service and burial will take place at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Kingshill Cemetery. The family requests that all attendees wear a face mask and adhere to the social distancing mandates.
