Agents of Customs and Border Protection at the Cyril E. King Airport arrested Idesha Patricia Sterrod on Wednesday and charged her with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s office for the District of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
According to court records, on Aug. 5, Sterrod arrived at the Cyril E. King airport from Miami. She was traveling with three minor females, ages 12, 14, and 15, who are not related to her. While inspecting checked luggage, the Customs and Border Protection canine alerted to the scent of narcotics on a suitcase. The suitcase, along with several others, contained approximately 76 kilograms, or 167.5 pounds, of marijuana.
A detention hearing was slated to be held Friday before the Honorable Ruth Miller.
The case is being investigated by Customs and Border Protection, and the Virgin Islands Police Department.
