Extradited STT Man Arrested on Armed Robbery Charges

A St. Thomas man wanted on a string of robbery-related charges was extradited Friday to the U.S. Virgin Islands, where he was arrested by the V.I. Police Department.

According to the VIPD, at about 3:15 p.m. June 26 members of the VIPD Warrant Unit arrested Shemar Coward, age 20 of Water Bay Condos, and charged him with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, second-degree robbery, first-degree assault, use of a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence, and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Coward is accused of being one of two suspects who on May 25, 2019, robbed at gunpoint Exquisite Barber Shop and Bar, located in Vitraco Park. He was apprehended in Baltimore, Maryland, and extradited to the USVI to face his charges.

Coward’s bail was set at $250,000. Unable to post bail, he was turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending is advice of rights hearing.
