Teen Found Shot to Death in Car on South Shore

Police responding to a citizen’s 911 call about a vehicle blocking the road on the south side of St. Croix Sunday evening discovered the body of a 19-year-old male who had suffered several gunshot wounds.

The victim was identified as 19-year-old Jeremie St. Rose. It was the 20th homicide on St. Croix since the beginning of the year, according to the Source homicide list*, the 32nd in the territory.

According to police, at 11:14 p.m. the 911 emergency center received a call from a concerned citizen who reported a vehicle blocking the South Shore Road south of Sally’s Fancy, Route 624. A few minutes later a second caller reported a man down.

Officers responded and requested the Criminal Investigation Bureau for a possible homicide. Investigation disclosed that the victim, St. Rose, had received multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene. Forensic detectives photographed and processed the scene for evidence.

The VIPD urged anyone with information about the case to call police at 340-778-2211 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.

* The Source homicide list is based on police reports, but the VIPD list includes vehicular homicides and suicides, as do the lists in some other media. The Source list does not, which is why there are often discrepancies in the number of homicides in the two lists.
