Jose Anselmo Ortiz Jr., also known as “Baro,” of Mount Pleasant died on Sept. 9. He was 67 years old.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Matilda Ramos; father, Jose A. Ortiz Sr.; brothers: Fermin Soto, Carmelo Soto and Miguel Ramos; sisters: Josephina Soto and Julita Santiago; and aunt: Raquel Rivera.
He is survived by his sisters: Luz Maria Bermudez, Carmen Dolores Ortiz and Anna Lydia Santiago; brothers: Jose Antonio Ramos and Efrain Ramos; nieces and nephews: Carmen Soto, Miguel Bermudez, Edwin Brooks, Benita Bermudez, Jose Bermudez, Noemi Garcia, Carmen Edwards, Sonia Soto, Manuel De’Jesus, Margarita De’Jesus, Jorge Ortiz, Cynthia Ortiz, Jessica Emile, Emilia Emile, Jahmein Copemann, Ronald Lopez, Angela Minto, Anna-Lisa Powell, Antonique Minto and Antonisha Minto; special cousins: Marisela Webster, Nitza James, Luis Rivera and Raphael Rivera; special friend, Edgar Figueroa; as well as other family and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, at James Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
