Man Drowns at Dorsch Beach

At 3:29 p.m. on Wednesday August 7, 911 received a call of a possible drowning at the Dorsch Beach, Frederiksted.

Sixty-five-year-old Charles Horne and his friend was snorkeling when his friend realized he was motionless and his snorkel was off his face in the water.

He immediately brought Horne to the shore, yelled for assistance and started applying CPR among other individuals on the beachside. EMS staff arrived and also administered CPR.

Horne was taken to the Juan F. Luis hospital where the emergency room attending Physician on duty pronounced him dead at 4:31 p.m. He was identified by next of kin.
