Man Shot to Death on St. Thomas

A man was shot to death Wednesday morning while driving in the area of Lilliendahl and Marienhoj, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

According to police, the 911 call center received a report at 7:17 a.m. Wednesday reporting multiple shots in the area of Lilliendahl and Marienhoj.

Officers responding to the report found a gray four-door Honda Civic in the roadway with its engine running. The officers saw multiple bullet holes in the vehicle.

Inside the vehicle the police found the body of an unresponsive man sitting behind the steering wheel. He appeared to have multiple gunshot wounds to the body.

Emergency medical technicians on the scene inspected the body and found no vital signs.

Police urged anyone with information about the crime to call the VIPD at 340-774-2211, the Major Crime Unit at 340-714-9830 or the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-714-9807. Those with information can also call the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477. Information with Crime Stoppers that resolves a case can make the person who supplied the tipster eligible for an anonymous cash reward.
