The University of the Virgin Islands’ Afternoon on the Green committee regrets to inform the public that this year’s event has been canceled. Held annually, the Afternoon on the Green is the UVI’s annual “friendraiser” to which the community is invited to enjoy a day with music, food and family fun on UVI’s golf course. This year’s event had been scheduled for April.
“After much consideration and due to circumstances beyond our control, the committee for Afternoon on the Green decided to cancel the event,” said Kyza A. Callwood, committee co-chair. “For more than 25 years, UVI has hosted this event for our community and we aim to make it bigger and better each year. Due to the devastation caused by the hurricanes and considering the recovery of our community, we determined it is best to cancel this event. We did not want to host this event unless we could ensure that our community was ready to fully participate and truly enjoy the Afternoon on the Green experience that is so loved by many.”
The committee will continue planning to host the Afternoon on the Green in spring 2019. “The committee is fully committed to making the next AOTG a grand affair to remember,” said Loretta Lloyd, committee co-chair. “We look forward to returning to the green – fabulous dishes, prizes for our dedicated cooks, great entertainment and lots of fun for the children.”
