A man was arrested Tuesday at a Havensight bar after a woman accused him of sexually assaulting her, the V.I. Police Department reported.
According to police, officers from the Richard Callwood Command were dispatched to a reported disturbance at a bar. At the scene, a woman told them she had been sexually assaulted and violated while in the establishment. The woman said she called out for her husband, who was also there with her and several friends.
She said the suspect, a black male, attempted to leave the establishment after the incident and her husband and management stopped him, called 911, and waited for police to arrive.
The suspect was later identified as Simon Hodge, a 20-year-old St. Thomas resident. He was advised of his rights, police said, placed under arrest and charged with first-degree unlawful sexual contact. Bail was set at $10,000 and he was remanded to the Bureau of Correction pending an advice of rights hearing.
