A man was treated for two gunshot wounds Tuesday afternoon after being shot walking toward his residence after driving home, the V.I. Police Department reported.
According to the police report, officers from the Richard Callwood Command were dispatched at 3:42 p.m. Tuesday to the Estate Thomas area after 911 received several reports of shots being fired.
While inspecting the area, the officers were notified by the 911 emergency call center that there was a gunshot victim at the Schneider Regional Medical Center’s emergency room seeking medical attention.
At the hospital, the officers made contact with the victim, whose name was not released by the VIPD. He told police he had just parked his vehicle in front of his residence and was walking towards his home when he suddenly heard shots fired. He said he began to feel a burning sensation to his left arm and was driven to the hospital via a private vehicle.
The victim was treated for gunshot wounds to his left arm and right calf. The case is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
