Instructional Technology Rolls Out New Office 3656 Student E-mail Service

The Virgin Islands Department of Education (DOE), Office of Instructional Technology, recently overhauled its online operating system, which now offers all public school students in 1st-12th grades a new user account and e-mail address on Office 365, one of the top online operating systems on the market today.
The student e-mail service represents an official means of communication between students and DOE staff. The staff will rely on the student e-mail account for official communications related to students’ courses (i.e. assignment reminders, class announcements, and other day-to-day notices). DOE will also communicate with students regarding school closures, emergencies and other official communications. It is important that students check their e-mail accounts on a regular basis.
The new system also gives students access to wireless Internet connectivity, Goggle apps, access to the Web filter, the ability to create helpdesk tickets and a host of other network services. Additionally, the student email service gives teachers the ability to create virtual classrooms for students.
This new system will take effect on Monday, Sept. 26.
For more information or to sign up for the free student e-mail service, students and parents should visit the Department of Education’s Web site: www.vide.vi and click the “FOR STUDENTS” tab.
