One Killed, Two Injured at Carnival Village

Three males ranging in age from 13 to 25 were shot early Sunday at the St. Thomas Carnival Village, and one died of his injuries, the V.I. Police Department reported.

It was the 14th homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the 20th in the territory.

According to police, the the 911 center received a call at about 2:37 a.m. Sunday reporting shots fired near the rest rooms of the Fort Christian Parking Lot. Three black male individual were reported shot during the incident.

The first victim, a black male later identified as 25-year-old Sehdale Gabriel of Savan, had been shot multiple times about the body. He was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center and taken straight into surgery. At about 4:45 a.m. Sunday he died of his injuries.

The second victim has not yet been identified, police said. He received multiple gunshots to the body and was transported by a private vehicle to the Schneider Regional Medical Center, where he received treatment for his injuries.

According to police, the third victim is a 13-year-old male. He received a single gunshot wound to the left arm and was transported to the hospital by his parents where he received treatment for his injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed Gabriel, the unidentified black male, and the minor were all in the area behind of Carnival booths number 33 and 1 when the shots were fired. While exiting the restroom Gabriel received multiple gunshot wounds about the body and the 13 year old minor was shot in the left arm.

The crime scene was processed thoroughly by the Forensic Unit.

This case is being investigated by the Homicide Task Force.
