Two V.I. Fire Service units from the Hospital Station responded to a structural fire on Cecilia Gade around 1:24 p.m. Thursday, finding a two-story residential dwelling fully engulfed in flames, according to a statement from Government House.
Fire units from the Bordeaux and Dorothea stations were asked to join the effort. Firefighters battled and reportedly put out the blaze within 45 minutes, after which Fire Service personnel did salvage work on the property.
The home occupants refused medical treatment from emergency medical service personnel who were on the scene. Fire Service officials contacted the American Red Cross to help the displaced occupants.
All units on scene were ordered to returned to their duty stations at 2:55 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Service’s Arson Unit.
