Search teams including officers from the V.I. Police Department, recruits from the VIPD Academy and members of St. Thomas Rescue found Karen Andrews, 65, a woman with Alzheimer’s disease, Saturday morning, the VIPD reported.
Andrews had last been seen at 9 p.m. Thursday in the area of Bonne Esperance. She was found at 10:34 Saturday, according to police.
Search teams broken into five groups, began a coordinated search for . Andrews Friday afternoon, lasting into the late evening. The Search Teams reconvened at 7 a.m. Saturday and continued their focused search, covering a perimeter from where she was last seen in Bonne Esperance.
At 10:34 a.m. Saturday the search teams found the missing woman in an area consisting of old building ruins west of Brewers’ Bay. Andrews was found safe but somewhat dehydrated and was taken to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment and observation.
