Man Charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm

Dwayne Fahie of Estate Mariendal was arrested Friday night after a routine traffic stop in the area of the Frederick Lutheran Church on Norre Gade.

The V.I. Police Department reported Monday that Fahie, 25, had been charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and held on $10,000 bail.

According to the police, at roughly 9:15 p.m. Friday K-9 officers with the Special Operations Bureau initiated a traffic stop. As the officer stopped the vehicle, the man sitting in the vehicle’s front-passenger seat got out of the car and ran off in an easterly direction.

The man was pursued and officers made contact with him in the area of Roosevelt Park. That’s when they discovered he had a firearm concealed in the rear of his pants waist, the police said.

The weapon proved to be unregistered, according to the police.
