Car Hit by Gunfire, Overturns in Bergs Home Area

A St. Thomas man was injured Wednesday night when the vehicle he was driving was hit by gunfire and turned over in the area of Bergs Home, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to the police, units from the Richard N. Callwood Command responded to the area of Bergs Home after receiving reports of shots being fired at 10:25 p.m. Arriving at the scene, officers found an overturned vehicle in the area of Building 13. Moments later, they found the operator of the vehicle.

The victim, whose name was not released by the police, was transported by ambulance to the Schneider Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for a fractured left index finger and two lacerations to the right side of his head.

The man told police he was driving when his vehicle was struck multiple times by gunshots. He was unable to provide officers with any information as to who may have shot at him.
