Chandra Gomez, a 20-year-old resident of Mahogany Estate, was arrested Thursday in connection with the death of her father, according to the V.I. Police Department.
It was the eighth homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the 11th in the territory.
According to the police report, at 10 a.m. Thursday officers with the Criminal Investigation Unit responded to a call of an assault victim at in the vicinity of Mahogany Estate. Upon arrival to the scene, officers discovered the unresponsive body of a man, later identified as Alvin Gomez, who had sustained a stab wound to the back.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chandra Gomez, the victim’s daughter, was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with second-degree homicide, domestic violence. She was held without bail under the Domestic Violence Law and was turned over to the Bureau of Corrections pending her Advise of Rights Hearing.
